Lending a hand for Foodbank

What a great effort from our Sydney and Melbourne offices who volunteered for Foodbank last Friday. The teams sorted and packaged food and household items in aid of the worthy cause. 

Foodbank is a conduit between the food industry’s surplus food and the welfare sector’s need, providing enough food for over 40 million meals in 2015 alone.

The team recently celebrated the 5 year milestones for Sydney based team members Richard Pan and Le Tan. Richard is an Account Manager and Le is the Office Manager. Both are pictured below with General Manager of Operations (Australasia), Rex Oakman. 

ATO steps up action on ‘dodgy claims’

17th August 2016

ATO assistant commissioner Graham Whyte said while most tax agents do the right thing, the ATO has continued to identify instances where tax professionals are deliberately making incorrect claims for clients. 

“Sometimes the ATO identifies tax agents offering special deals, inflating claims to generate larger refunds,” said Mr Whyte. He added that the ATO will be taking action against any tax professionals making these types of “dodgy claims”.

ATO cracking down on ‘sharing economy’

The ATO has warned it is focusing on taxpayers earning money from the “sharing economy” this tax time, cautioning that it has in excess of 600 million pieces of third-party data to track activity and income.
